Math

The first thing we did in Maths was to find out different types of things that has big numbers.
Examples: How many sands are there on earth
Example: How many stars are there in each galaxies

And then we worked out the distances from our planet to the other planets. Then we worked out how long it would take in days, hours and years to get to the other planets

We have been learning about how long to travel from planet to planets in days/kilometres using the airbus.
We were learning things about the planets around the solar system. We first found out the distances between the planets and found out what the whole is. And then we worked out the percentage of the planets.

Ian, Shawn and Birelle
PlanetsDistances in KmDist in !0 ^6Percentage
Sun to Mercury57,910,000 km57.9157 x 10^61%
%age X100
Mercury to Venus50,300,000 km50.350 x 10^61%0.011177777781
Venus to Earth41,400,000 km41.441 x 10^61%
Earth to Mars119,700,000 km119.7119 x 10^63%
Here's how we calculated the distances of each planets.
Mars to Jupiter550,400,000 km550.4550 x 10^612%
We minus the larger distance from the small distance
Example:Sun to Planet distance
Jupiter to Saturn648,700,000 km 648.7648 x 10^614%
Mercury to Venus
Mercury = 57,900,900
Saturn to Uranus1,444,000,000 km1,4441,444 x 10 ^ 632%
Venus = 108,200,200
Venus is the large distance than Mercury
The Mercury's distance is small so we subtracted the distance of the Mercury to Venus's distance
Uranus to Neptune1,626,100,000 km1,626.101,626 x 10 ^ 636%
Because the distance of the Mercury is small then we minus it to large distance which is Venus
If we add all of our percentage of he planets, it comes 100%
Whole =4,500,000,000
Whole=100%
4,500x 10 ^6 km
Here's where we found the distances and finding out the answers.. https://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/astronomy/planets/

We have been learning about how to calculate large numbers in different ways.

Here are the work we've done:

Index Notation
Example of writing Index Notation is 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 25
The result of 25 or the meaning of it is 25 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 32
What I do to know the result of 25 , first you need to times 2 x 2 = 4 then times it again in 2 = 8

Calculating powers
You can use the xy key on a calculator or in your phone
I’ll give Example:
Calculate the value of 105
Follow this steps on your calculator:
(10)(xy)(5)(=)
So = 10x10x10x10x10=100,000
So 105=100,000

The First Index Law
You can just get the result by adding up the powers
For Example:
62 x 65 = (6 x 6) x (6 x 6 x 6 x 6 x 6 x 6)

We were working out the names of the big numbers from million to decillion and from decillion to vigintillion.
But unfortunately didn't get up to what's after decillion and to vigintillion because there was not enough time for us to get it all done. But we did find out what's after decillion.

We worked out how far is it to get to the planets using the speed of the airbus.
